FAQs

You can email a trip, including all the flights in it, on the My Trips page or the Trip Details page. On My Trips, click on the 'Action' drop-down menu next to the trip you want to email and select, 'Share'. This will trigger your email client to open showing a message that's been pre-populated with the selected flight details. Then you can enter the email address(es) to which you want the information sent. Or on the Trip Details page, click on the envelop icon in the top right corner of the page where it says 'Share my trip'. This action will also trigger your email client to open showing a message that's been pre-populated with the selected flight details, where you can enter the target email address(es).

You can add a trip automatically by forwarding an itinerary email to trips@flightview.com or you can add a trip manually on the My Trips page. To do so manually, log in to flightview and click on the My Trips tab at the top of the screen. On the My Trips page, if you have no trips, click on the blue 'Add New Trip' button to create a trip. If you already have some trips, on the My Trips page, click on the '+ Add Trip' link in the orange header of the trip list table. When you click on either one, you will navigate to the Trip Info page for your new trip with a default Trip Name, Start Date and End Date. You can change these or accept them by simply clicking on the Trip Details tab or navigating to any other page. On the trip Details page, you can click on the '+ Add Flight' link to add a flight to your new trip.

You can delete a trip on the My Trips page by clicking on the 'Action' drop-down menu next to the trip you want to delete and select 'Delete'.

You can delete a flight from a trip on the Trip Details page. Start by clicking on the My Trips tab; then click on the trip that contains the flight you want to delete to go to Trip Details. If you want to forward itineraries from different email addresses (perhaps some from your personal email account(s) and some from your work email account(s)), and see them all in your My Trips list in flightview, you need to include all these email addresses in your flightview profile. Adding additional email addresses to your profile as alternate emails is easy.

Your primary email address is where we will send all flightview general correspondence (with 2 exceptions explained below). Your alternate email addresses are additional addresses from which you may forward an itinerary so it is automatically uploaded to your My Trips. For example, your personal email address may be your primary, but you may want to forward itineraries from your work email address for business travel (in which case you would add your work email address as an alternate).

When you first sign up with flightview, the email address you provide as your login will be your primary email address by default. After you add alternate email addresses to your profile, you will be able to designate any one of them as your primary email address instead of the current primary.

You cannot delete the email address currently designated as the primary. Therefore, in order to delete it, you need to add an alternate email and assign it to be the primary instead. Once the current primary email is replaced with an alternate, it will become an alternate so you may delete it.

There are 2 cases where you will receive email correspondence at your alternate email addresses:

  1. When you add an alternate email address to your profile, you will receive a confirmation email at that address.

  2. When you forward an itinerary email from an alternate email address, you will receive a confirmation email at that address AND at your primary email address.

You may search for flights scheduled up to 350 days into the future and save them to your trips.

After you create a Flightview account, you can forward your itinerary emails to trips@flightview.com and view them as trips on Flightview.com as well as in your Flightview mobile app for iPhone (Android coming soon).

When you book a trip and receive a confirmation itinerary email from your travel provider or booking site, forward the email to trips@flightview.com. The email account that you forward it from must be included in your Flightview profile, either as the primary email address or an alternative email address. After you forward the itinerary email, you will receive a confirmation response from Flightview that your itinerary was processed successfully, at which time you can log into your Flightview app or flightview.com and see it as a new trip in your My Trips page.

Flightview automatically uploads itineraries to trips from a number of travel providers and booking sites. The complete list is provided here: Supported Travel Providers.

There are a few possible reasons the itinerary you forwarded to trips@flightview.com did not get uploaded as a trip to your My Trips list.

  1. You forwarded it from an email account that is not in your Flightview profile. Please make sure the email address from which you sent your itinerary is either the primary email or an alternate email address in your profile. [Website] After you log in to Flightview, place your cursor over your name at the top of the screen and click on the 'Profile' link in the drop-down list to see the list of emails associated with your profile. [Mobile Apps] After you open the Flightview app, tap 'Options' and then 'Settings'. Once you're logged in, tap the 'My Profile' link to see the list of emails associated with your profile.

  2. Your itinerary is from a booking site that Flightview does not support. Please review this list of Supported Travel Providers.

  3. Your itinerary email was not formatted as expected so it could not be processed. Please check the format to make sure it is sensible.

  4. The flights in the itinerary email were not defined completely enough. Please check the content of your itinerary email for completeness.

After you forward an itinerary email to trips@flightview.com and it is automatically uploaded to your My Trips list, log into FlightView and click on the My Trips tab. Your new trip should be on the list, with a title based on the destination of the first flight on the trip. Select this trip and navigate to the Trip Details page. This page shows all the flights that were in your itinerary, listed by departure date. Their scheduled times are listed as well as their status.

[Website] Also, you may click on the "Show Booking Information" button above the flights and booking details about each flight from your itinerary will appear, including Confirmation #, Booking Site, Booking Site URL, and Record Locator. You may click on the "Hide Booking Information" to reload the page with the booking details hidden.

[Mobile Apps] Also, you may tap on any flight in the trip and navigate to the Flight Details page. From there, tap on the "Options" tab to view Booking Information from your itinerary, including Confirmation #, Booking Site, Booking Site URL, and Record Locator.
